Abstract

This article analyzes the strategies of three key texts in the history of 20th-century urbanism to explore how a universal narrative is constructed in the Western context, focusing on models, case studies, and protagonists, particularly in Europe and the United States. From a critical perspective concerning the Global South, it examines the ideas and maps generated by these texts and the asymmetries involved in their construction of the”universal”. This re-reading encourages reflection on the historiographical, methodological, and conceptual value of incorporating diverse bibliographies across different contexts.
